Justice Not War in the Philippines Campaign (JNW)

JNW Mission

WE STAND FOR:

  • Genuine sovereignty for the Filipino people
  • Justice and peace in the Philippines based on genuine economic and social reforms that serve the needs of the Filipino people
  • Solidarity with peoples facing US military intervention

WE STAND AGAINST:

  • The presence of US troops in the Philippines
  • US military aid and bases in the Philippines
  • Violations of the human rights of Filipino civilians
  • Criminalization and mass murder of progressive Filipinos
  • Deportations and racial profiling of immigrants in the wake of 9/11
  • Using women and children as “collateral damage”

Objectives:

  1. Expose and oppose US military intervention in the Philippines, human rights violations, and the Philippine leadership’s puppetry to the US government
  2. Highlight the Philippine progressive movement’s solidarity with anti-war activists worldwide
  3. Build JNW as a place where Filipinos, non-Filipinos, and allies of other organizations can work together towards the JNW mission
  4. Build support for the progressive movement in the Phils

September 27, 2005: Demonstrators at Massive Washington Rally Call for End to US Intervention in the Philippines.
March 19, 2005: JNW organized a contingent for the demonstration on the 2nd anniversary of the current US war in Iraq
August 29, 2004: JNW organized a contingent for the major demonstration in NY against the Republican National Convention
August 17, 2004: JNW organized film showing in Queens of “Ang Kaaway” about US military intervention in the Philippines
March 20, 2004: JNW organized contingent at NY demonstration on 1st anniversary of current US war in Iraq
October 25, 2003: JNW organized contingent for demonstration in Washington against US occupation.
Sept 28, 2003: JNW organized contingent for NY demonstration against US occupation

August 31, 2003: JNW picnic in Jersey City, NJ with DAMAYAN Migrant Workers Association and Lakas Diwa youth
May 19, 2003: Picket at the Philippine Consulate on the day of George Bush’s state dinner with President Arroyo
April 26, 2003: JNW emergency picket to protest the murders of activists Eden Marcellana and Eddie Gumanoy, at the Philippine Consulate
April 17, 2003: JNW film showing “Bullets’ Echoes” on human rights violations, at Hunter College
April 11, 2003: JNW anti-war vigil at the Philippine Consulate
